Mark Lyken is a Scotland based film & sound artist recording under the name Rural Noise.
His work may come off quite minimalistic at first, but with careful listening you can detect several distinct lines of static that function cohesively as a single mass of sputtering crackles, at once calming and chaotic...all tied together with an unusual but nicely contrasted pairing of pure electronics and gloomy natural landscape visuals.
To me it initially sounded like modular synthesis but I later came to find out it is all made using voice recordings and noise generators processed with DIY and modified pedals.
